August 25, 2018
9:00 - 4:00
5911 Western Trail, Greensboro
A Universe Story Walk along a ½-mile path in the uplands woods at the Stover’s Sèjour provides a context for listening to the Universe’s story. Markers at 100’ intervals indicate the major occurrences of each billion-year period of the cosmological history. Brief readings from The Universe Story: From Primal Flaring Forth to the Ecozoic Era by Brian Swimme and Thomas Berry highlight the eventfulness of each phase. During the August 25th “Conversation with the Cosmos”, participants will spend the entire day using a variety of reflective exercises designed to allow appropriation of the depth wisdom of the Universe. Each of the 15-minute meditative exercises will focus on their individual’s relationship to the unique adventure of each step of the Universe’s emerging journey.
The one-day contemplative dialogue offers a unique opportunity for participants to relate the events and experiences of their own lives to the creative abundance of the Universe. Participants will also have the opportunity to enjoy the lush green of a Piedmont hardwood forest.
Participants should bring something on which to sit (lawn chair, meditation stool or blanket) during the contemplative periods at each of the stations on the walk. Lunch, snacks, drinks and a journal guidebook will be provided.
